TERROIR
Our vineyards lie on the gentle slopes of the Tsinandali PDO at 600-700 meters, where mountain air meets the Alazani Valley. The exchange between oak forests and open sky creates a balanced environment shaped by light, air, and soil.
With a southeast exposition, the vines receive early sun and steady breezes from the Tsiv-Gombori range. Airflow keeps the canopy dry and healthy, preserving freshness and clarity of aroma, and ensuring natural ventilation even during the midsummer heat.
Oak forests border the vineyard, protecting it from strong winds and moderating the microclimate. They cool the evenings and release moisture in the mornings, creating a steady daily rhythm between forest and vines.
Two small ravines run through the estate, channelling air and water and enhancing temperature balance. After rainfall, their movement becomes part of the vineyard’s landscape - an element as integral as the soil itself.
Beneath the vines lie limestone, clay, and ancient alluvial sands shaped by the Alazani River. Upper, well-drained parcels with limestone fragments add tension and drive. Lower, deeper sections contribute volume and texture. This diversity gives each plot its own expression while remaining unified under Tsinandali Estate.
The climate is warm yet moderated. Long sunlight hours are tempered by cool nights, preserving freshness. Forest influence and ravine airflow reduce humidity, while the southeastern aspect supports consistent ripening.
Here, winemaking begins in the vineyard’s natural structure and rhythm. Soil, air, forest, and light work together to create wines defined by clarity, balance, and authenticity.
