OENOTHEQUE

Prince Alexander Chavchavadze’s remarkable wine collection is
preserved today in the historical oenotheque at Tsinandali, which
houses more than 16,500 bottles representing 70 different wine
varieties. Among its treasures is the Tsinandali Estate Saperavi vintage 1839, the oldest bottled wine in Georgia, dating back to 1841.

In addition to rare Georgian wines, the oenotheque features notable international examples, including 19th-century Château Lafite,
Château Margaux, and Château d’Yquem, as well as unique items
such as early 20th-century Japanese beer.

The tradition established by Prince Alexander continues: each year,
100 bottles of every wine produced at Tsinandali are added to the
historical collection, ensuring that the legacy grows with each vintage.
